Virginia’s failed clutch

The clutch of 4 goose eggs that Virginia had been sitting on was due to hatch last weekend. None did, but we left her for a little longer just in case the dates were slightly out. On Saturday morning (a week late by our calculations) one started pipping, and made a pretty decent hole in the shell. Sadly though it didn’t make it out. It was fully formed, but obviously not strong enough to actually hatch. Last night we took the remaining eggs away from her, although she wasn’t happy with that. They all appeared to have developed to one stage or another, but not fully. So for whatever reason they haven’t worked. Vita’s clutch is due next week so we’ll see what happens there.
