Well what a busy morning. Both of the remaining sheep lambed today between 9.30 and 11.30. I was off work so could sit and watch throughout. Both lambs are large and healthy.
The first thing I noticed was that one of the sheep had a water bag hanging out of her. Within half an hour the lamb was out. The ewes do a lot of lip licking while they are in labour which I assume is the stress of birth. Then the second ewe seemed very interested in the lamb and was also lip licking and circling. Again within 30 mind the lamb was hanging out of her with just it’s rear legs still inside, she stayed in this possition for a while but eventually gave a final push. I managed to ear tag both lambs, now it’s for nature to do the rest. Fingers crossed!
